Force a fresh check against the update server (the GET serves a cached status) and return the new status. Automatic checks run at startup, every 55 to 60 minutes, and when overdue after wake or restored connectivity. Concurrent checks join one request. A network failure retains a previously found update. Requires the **viewer** role; remains available while locked. Local developer builds and configurations with updates disabled do not contact the backend.
Activity log retention GET
How long activity entries are kept before the daemon purges them. The default is `month`. `off` stops recording new entries and leaves the existing ones in place. Requires the **viewer** role.
