Changelog

Every Udon release, and what changed.

  1. 0.62.2

    Current Version

    Changed

    • Opening Udon.app after Quit in the menu bar starts Udon again.
    • The installer shows a spinner while Udon starts and no longer opens the dashboard at the end. Its last lines give the dashboard address, point to the Welcome window and give [email protected].
    • Permission screens and the notification dot no longer check in the background. After granting access, select Check again. The notification dot refreshes when you open the dashboard, return to it or change pages.
    • The setup wizard's Make it yours step offers the theme picker only, and the stock wallpapers are gone. A failed AI provider check shows one message with Skip for now, and the wizard closes on "Welcome to Udon". Appearance styles are named Rounded and Squared.

    Fixed

    • Installing on a new Mac account no longer fails with "The folder doesn't exist", and a Mac host name longer than 64 characters no longer stops the install.
    • The installer asks for your password before installing Homebrew, so the step works when sudo needs a password, and it stops with the reason as soon as an install fails.
    • An install that was interrupted or failed can be run again and finishes. Install and update errors name the actual problem.
    • The Welcome window opens on every launch while a step is missing, and its admin step no longer sticks on "Checking…". Allow no longer waits about ten seconds, and Quit & Reopen after a Full Disk Access grant leaves one menu bar icon.
    • The dashboard's Admin Privileges and Full Disk Access screens no longer flicker, and Check again unlocks the dashboard as soon as access is granted.
    • Homebrew installed from the Welcome window shows up in the dashboard without restarting Udon.
    • Dragging tiles, tabs, sliders and sheets no longer selects text.
  2. 0.62.1

    Changed

    • The free trial is 14 days.
    • The installer asks one question, whether to install Apple Container and Homebrew, and installs only what is missing. OrbStack counts as the container engine. The Welcome window still offers both afterwards.
    • The Welcome window shows the app icon over its intro line and groups the steps into Permissions and Dependencies.

    Fixed

    • In the Welcome window, Add and Allow show the install in progress with a spinner until the udond command is linked or admin privileges are in place, instead of a blank wait of several seconds. The admin step ticks as soon as the helper answers.
  3. 0.62.0

    Added

    • Keep Mac awake, in the menu bar panel, stops the Mac from sleeping on its own, like caffeinate. Udon remembers the choice across restarts. Off by default.
    • The Welcome window gained two steps, Containers and Package Manager. When Apple Container or OrbStack is missing, one click downloads Apple Container's signed installer, checks Apple's signature and installs it. When Homebrew is missing, one click opens Terminal on Homebrew's installer. Closing the window with steps pending asks first.

    Changed

    • The Welcome window stays above other windows until you close it, and its step buttons are icons with tooltips.
    • The installer no longer asks about Apple Container; the Welcome window handles it.
    • Udon no longer polls the license service after you open checkout. Once you have paid, refresh the license from Settings → License, the lock screen or the setup wizard, or restart Udon. The checkout page says so too.
    • Check for updates is a refresh button with the tooltip "Check for updates now".
    • The License card no longer explains when the license is checked, and its development notes are warning callouts.

    Fixed

    • Choosing "I want to use AI" during setup no longer reports a missing API key before the provider step.
  4. 0.61.0

    Changed

    • Udon installs as one app in /Applications. The daemon, the menu bar app, the helper and the dashboard ship inside Udon.app; your data stays in ~/Library/Application Support/sh.udon.
    • The installer checks your Mac, offers Apple Container, downloads and verifies the release and starts Udon. The menu bar app then opens a Welcome window with the three remaining steps: the udond command, Full Disk Access and admin privileges.
    • One build serves every Mac. A Mac marked as a development device gets beta updates and sandbox payments from the license backend, and its License card shows "Development mode". Nothing is chosen on the Mac.
    • The hourly update check also refreshes the license, so a change made in the license backend reaches the Mac within the hour.

    Fixed

    • Udon locks only when Full Disk Access has been refused. An inconclusive check no longer locks the API, Storage or setup.
    • Updates, reinstalls and rollbacks finish while a permission grant is still pending, instead of rolling back after five minutes.

    Removed

    • The installer no longer asks about error reporting or installs Homebrew. The switch lives in Settings, and the Packages page explains how to add Homebrew.
