Uninstalling or reinstalling Udon
Resolve cancelled authorization, partial removal, and ownership errors, then recover your data and license after reinstalling.
Run uninstall from the macOS account that owns Udon. The menu bar's More → Uninstall Udon
and udond uninstall keep your application data by default. Uninstall and Remove Data or
--purge also deletes the state folder, including accounts, settings, database, and license cache.
Homebrew, the container engine, and its containers, images, and volumes remain in place.
Authorization was cancelled
Udon requests any required administrator authorization before stopping services or removing
files. Cancelling that prompt leaves the installation in place. Start uninstall again when
you are ready to approve it. With --yes, udond uninstall skips its questions and can't ask for
your password, so when the helper or the udond command needs removing it stops with Uninstall
stopped while removing system files. Run sudo -v in the same Terminal window first, or leave
out --yes.
Uninstall stopped or some files are missing
If the error mentions an active update or retained recovery files, finish update recovery first. Keep those files until recovery completes.
If Udon cannot confirm that its service stopped, it keeps the program files and reports the failure. Keep the exact error. You can repeat uninstall after resolving it; already missing files do not need to be recreated.
When both the menu bar app and udond are gone, use the standalone script from the owning account:
curl -fsSL https://udon.sh/uninstall | bashThis also keeps application data. To deliberately remove the remaining state folder, use the
--purge form in Uninstalling.
An ownership error means another macOS account owns Udon's helper or files. Sign in to that account to remove its installation. Uninstall from a second account preserves the owner's helper.
Reinstall and restore your license
Run the official install command from the owning macOS account. With retained data, your accounts, settings, database, and cached license remain available. If the Welcome to Udon window opens on the Mac, finish its steps before using the dashboard.
Removing application data does not erase the license service's record of this Mac. Connect to the internet after reinstalling to restore its paid license or remaining trial. The trial keeps its original end date. If verification fails, follow Udon is locked.
The public installer installs Stable. A development Mac receives its Beta build through the updater after installation. Sandbox and live licenses stay separate.
